Vellacott counseling

therapy for men in Missouri navigating relationships, identity, and overwhelm.

Piece together your patterns

Maybe the same conflict keeps showing up in your relationship.

Maybe you’re successful on paper but you constantly feel like you’re falling behind.

Maybe you know something needs to change, but you just don’t know how to talk about it yet.

We are all driven by thoughts and beliefs we aren’t fully aware of—patterns that can leave us feeling stuck, confused, or unsure about how we got here. Together, we'll take a closer look at these underlying patterns and work toward clearer understanding and change.

  • You struggle with naming and processing your feelings.

  • You shut down, withdraw, or get defensive when emotions get intense.

  • You keep repeating relationship patterns you promised yourself you’d change.

  • Your loved ones are asking more of you emotionally, but you feel unable to deliver.

  • You feel immense pressure to keep everything under control and manage

  • You don’t know who you are outside of what other people need from you.

  • You’re tired of handling everything alone, but asking for help feels uncomfortable.

You don’t have to hold it all alone

Therapy isn’t about just becoming a “better man”. It’s about understanding yourself and what drives your reactions, so that you can build a life that feels more like your own.

I primarily work with men who recognize that they need to make a change in their life, but are unsure how or why.

Here are a few of my areas of specialty:

Meet your therapist:

SYDNEY VELLACOTT, MA PLPC

My role as your therapist isn’t to sit silently while you try to figure out what you’re supposed to say. I’ll ask honest questions, help you notice what’s happening beneath the surface, and work with you to create meaningful change outside the therapy room.

I often tell my clients, “If I never frustrate you, I wouldn’t be doing my job.” Growth can be hard, but it’s also where the most meaningful breakthroughs happen.

In our work, I’m more of a "diving board" offering the space for you to go further than you might on your own. I can’t make you jump, but I’ll be there, helping you take that step, guiding you toward deeper self-awareness and growth.

I firmly believe that the things you avoid only get larger. Whether you’re avoiding facing your addiction, your emotions, or just need a space to vent, I will be here to help you face it.

You can expect warmth, curiosity, directness, and room for humor. We can take the work seriously without making every session feel heavy. Therapy doesn’t have to be clinical. We will have real conversations, and I’ll meet you where you are without judgment.

I provide in-person therapy for men in St. Louis, MO at my office located off of South Grand. I also offer virtual therapy for men throughout the state of Missouri.
